Steer participates in the Shenergy event promoting women’s leadership

On Thursday, March 6, Steer had the honour of participating in the Shenergy event, which was organised in collaboration with the British Embassy in Mexico City and JLL Mexico under the theme "Always a Pioneer, Never an Impostor."

This event was held in recognition of International Women's Day, with the goal of promoting women's leadership and active participation in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

The morning began with a breakfast hosted by Ambassador Susannah Goshko, followed by an insightful panel discussion moderated by Ruth Corona. During the discussion, a group of distinguished professionals—including Lourdes López Zuckermann, Lorena Fuertes, Pamela Desentis Martinez Lastra, Grecia Pérez Calderón, and Silvia Mejía Reza from our Mexico office—shared strategies and experiences on balancing personal and professional life, as well as the challenges of working in male-dominated sectors.

Key takeaways from the discussion:

  • Recognition is important because of experience, responsibility, and expertise.
  • There is a need for support networks to balance caregiving responsibilities and professional careers.
  • The significance of creating personal spaces for individual growth and development.
  • Encouraging women to be kinder to themselves, as they often place high expectations on fulfilling all their daily responsibilities.

This event reinforced the importance of recognising women's achievements and valuing their contributions across industries.

We congratulate Silvia Mejía Reza and all participants for their success and valuable contributions. Let’s continue breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of women leaders.
