Seven European cities (Bologna, Budapest, Poznan, Brescia, Stuttgart, Maribor and Rijeka) received European funding within the SULPITER Central Europe project to develop sustainable urban logistics plans.
The international project leader, The Institute for Transport and Logistics in Emilia-Romagna region, needed an analysis of European practices in urban logistics planning and of the trends that cities need to consider in their logistics plans.
Our team developed an extensive review of logistics planning in over 120 European cities, an analysis of selected urban logistics projects, and a stakeholder survey on trends in consumption, land use, supply chain management and technologies impacting on urban freight transport.
Our team delivered understanding of urban logistics policy-making processes, benefits and critical success factors of implemented projects, and key drivers of the future of logistics in European cities.
Successes and outcomes
Our work informed logistics planning in the project cities and fed training to European stakeholders on sustainable urban logistics plans.
