Read moreJohn’s work focusses on business case and strategy development. In terms of businesses cases John has worked on strategic, outline and full business case outputs for a range of schemes including transit, bus and active modes where he has coordinated inputs from specialist teams in terms of economic, financial and design specialisms. In respect to strategy development John has worked in local-sub-regional and regional settings to develop mode specific and multi-modal outputs. In addition to business case and strategy development, John has an interest in travel behaviour change, having led workplace and residential travel planning and personal travel planning projects.
Key projects include:
Edinburgh Tram: John has supported development of proposals for the extension of Edinburgh’s tram network, first through managing the development of the Edinburgh Sustainable Transport Study (Phase 1) which prioritised potential strategic transit corridors in the city. Following this study, he has continued to support business case development for an extension to the north and south of the city.
Glasgow Bus Partnership Technical Support: John led Steer’s input to this project which delivered Outline Business Cases for five bus priority corridors in Glasgow. John led consolidation of technical inputs to the final business case documents.
Connectivity Studies: John led the development of two connectivity studies for England’s Economic Heartland. These studies identified a package focussed on improving strategic connectivity between key settlements in the study areas and considering the strategic impact of these through EEHLUM, a strategic dynamic land use model. John oversaw all aspects of the project, coordinating technical inputs and led a range of stakeholder workshops to communicate outputs as the studies evolved.
